People from Barga always attend in crowds one of the most loved events of the life of this town. This fair is held in the Giardino area and consists of hundreds of small stands selling different kind of goods, from books and CDs to clothes and handicraft products. The event runs from 15th August to the morning of 17th August, the day when Barga celebrates San Rocchino.
Celebrations will officially start on 15th August when a few Masses held at the church in Fornacetta will laud the Assumption of Mary. As usual, devotees will be welcomed into the church which will be gracefully adorned for the occasion. Religious ceremonies will continue on 16th August in San Rocco Church, from the early morning until the late afternoon. Masses will also be celebrated during San Rocchino’s Day on 17th August, when both celebration and fair will have come to an end.
Finally, as every year, the Municipality of Barga will close to transport Largo Roma area on the evenings of 15th and 16th August. This space will then be turned into an outdoor dance floor, also equipped with tables to allow people to eat and drink or just rest from dancing.
