Every year the Comune di Barga together with the local Barga newspaper “Il Giornale di Barga” and giornaledibarga.it organise the annual “Bargo-Esteri” festival dedicated to the Barga emigrants.

This year the celebrations will take place on the 7th of August starting at 5.30 pm with Holy Mass at the San Rocco Church in honour of all the Barghigiani emigrants who have passed away. To follow at 6.30 pm at the Town Hall in the historical centre, the presentation of the book “La via della Scozia” by Nicoletta Franchi. The book is about the Barga and Lucca emigration to Glasgow in the 19^th and 20^th century. Then at 7.30 pm the local authorities will officially welcome the Barga Emigrants present at Piazza Angelio who can then enjoy a delicious cold buffet accompanied by music.
