On the last weekend of June, the old town centre of Porcari will be liven up with art also thanks to a large group from Barga. During these dates there will be “In Contemporanea Porcari”, a festival of contemporary art with street entertainers and live performances organised by Lucia Morelli and Nicola Salotti from the cultural association Venti d’Arte. The event will take place in a similar way as the one designed for the art festival “(S)passo tra l’arte”, which has taken place for three years in the Comune of Barga.
Besides this, there will be other events (such as gigs, theatre performances, gastronomic markets and fairs) to celebrate the 100 years of the Comune of Porcari. Among these, an event that certainly stands out is the inauguration of the exhibition “L’immortalitá della carta”, a retrospective on the art by Keane. There will be 35 artworks between paintings and installations, exhibited for the first time in 1998 at Varkaus Art Museum in Finland and which are now displayed again at Fondazione Lazzareschi.
Lucia and Nicola have been mentioned several times by the Giornale di Barga because of their effort and hard work in the promotion of art and its fruition. In collaboration with the art historian Riccarda Bernacchi, they are now the curators of Keane’s exhibition, which will be open until 12th July. The festival “In Contemporanea Porcari” will be held on the evenings of 28th, 29th and 30th June from 9pm to midnight (in Piazza Felice Orsi) and will have Keane and the sculptor Franco Pegonzi (who is also from Barga) as special guests.
